National Survey Findings of Mothers’ Attitudes & Behaviors

The prevalence of H1N1 news and information has heightened overall flu awareness among parents (mothers). Despite parents’ overall belief in the safety and efficacy of the seasonal vaccine, misperceptions still exist that cause some to avoid vaccination for their children. The NFID survey reveals that parents might be more inclined to vaccinate if their child’s healthcare professional played a stronger role in advocating vaccination and educating moms that vaccination is the best way to prevent influenza.
